History

Old Inwood photos.Alex Hull, PE; Andy DeWitt, PE; David Coleman, PE; and Ed Buck, PE, founded Inwood Consulting Engineers, Inc. in 1995, offering utility design, roadway design, and project development and environment (PD&E) services. In March 1995, Inwood was awarded its first project—a preliminary engineering study for Seminole County—and the subsequent award of the final design contract. In August 1995, Inwood was selected for our first Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) PD&E study, which was a complicated 5-mile roadway design project. Around this same time, we were selected for our first utility master plan and design for the St. Lucie County International Airport.

In January 1996, we began hiring additional staff members, and by 2002, Inwood opened a new office in Oviedo, Florida, where stormwater was added to our list of services. In 2005, David Dangel, PE, and Derek Dean, PE, were appointed associate principals. Our growth continued in 2007 when transportation planning
services were added to our core
services. Environmental services
were soon added in mid-2008.

In September 2008, Inwood moved to a new 30,000-square-foot corporate office building, which is also located in Oviedo, Florida. The new facility was designed to accommodate a growing, environmentally conscious engineering office with many amenities tailored to our specific services and personnel. A satellite office was opened in Port St. Lucie in 2009.

In January 2013, Inwood announced David Dangel, PE, as the newest principal and Director of PD&E and Ecological Services. Later that same year we opened a second satellite office in Tampa. In August 2015, our ecological team and services expanded to include prescribed fire and land management. January 2016 brought more changes as two more promotions were announced—Mark Hales, PE, as principal and Jason Houck, PWS, GISP, as associate principal. Also in January 2016, David Coleman, PE, became Inwood’s current president, and Ed Buck, PE, became CEO.

Inwood has been in business more than 21 years serving Florida’s infrastructure design needs. We believe Inwood will continue to have a promising future due to our dedication to our clients, strength of character, and knowledge in the industry. Inwood is a trusted and respected firm committed to quality, success, and flexibility to accommodate Florida’s emerging engineering demands.
