SR 415 Final Design – Reed Ellis Road to Acorn Lake Road

Florida Department of Transportation – District Five
Trail bridge over SR 415.

As the prime consultant to FDOT District Five, Inwood provided roadway and drainage design, permitting, and public involvement services on the SR 415 final design project in Volusia County, Florida. The existing 5.5-mile two-lane undivided rural highway was reconstructed to a four-lane divided urban arterial with a 22-foot raised median from Reed Ellis Road to Acorn Lake Road. Extensive right-of-way acquisition was required for this project: 170 parcels for the roadway footprint plus 4 parcels for the water retention areas. The project also included a four-foot bike lane, a 12-foot wide multi-use asphalt trail, two new traffic signals, and a 1700-foot long noise wall.

Inwood also coordinated the alignment of the recreational trail within the Florida Power and Light utility easement.
