Inwood's History & FoundationFour engineers - Alex Hull, Andy DeWitt, David Coleman, and Ed Buck - founded Inwood Consulting Engineers, Inc. in 1995, offering utility design, roadway design, and project development and environment (PD&E) services.
In March 1995, Inwood was awarded its first project—a preliminary engineering study for Seminole County—and the subsequent award of the final design contract. In August 1995, Inwood was selected for our first Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) PD&E study, which was a complicated 5-mile roadway design project. Around this same time, we were selected for our first utility master plan and design for the St. Lucie County International Airport. |

In 2002, Inwood opened a new office in Oviedo, Florida,
where stormwater was added to our list of services. In 2005, David Dangel became an Associate Principal. He has since become a full Principal and is Director of PD&E and Ecology. |
"Our success is based on the relationships we have with clients and co-workers along with the infrastructure improvements we have been part of throughout the state."
Our growth continued in 2007 when Transportation Planning Services were added to our core services. Ecological Services were soon added in early 2008.
In September 2008, Inwood moved to a new 30,000-square-foot corporate office building, which is also located in Oviedo, Florida. The new facility was designed to accommodate a growing, environmentally conscious engineering office with many amenities tailored to our specific services and personnel. A satellite office was opened in Port St. Lucie in 2009. In January 2013, Inwood announced Renato Chuw, Drainage Section Manager, as an Associate Principal. A satellite office was opened in Tampa in May 2013. |

This also marked the beginning of the formal transition to retirement for our founding president and CEO, Alex Hull. David Coleman became Inwood’s President, and Ed Buck became CEO.
Steve Sommerfeldt and Kevin Iannarone were announced as Associate Principals at the beginning of 2017. Inwood expanded its service offerings in early 2018 to include structural engineering, specializing in bridge design. At the beginning of 2019, Inwood announced Jay Patel as a Senior Associate. In January 2020, Jennifer Marsden was also appointed Senior Associate with Josh Spence and Ben Shepherd joining them as Senior Associates the following year. |
