In February 2010, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One announced the completion of the Fort Fraser Trail extension, located in Polk County.  As part of the design-build team, Inwood Consulting Engineers, Inc. was selected by FDOT to provide the engineering design of the trail.

The Fort Fraser Trail extension is a multi-use trail connection between the existing, 7.5-mile Fort Fraser Trail, located along U.S. 98 between Lakeland and Bartow, and the Circle B Bar Reserve’s 3.5-mile trail network. The trail extension provides regional, recreational connections that allow for a more pedestrian and bike friendly community.

Along with providing engineering design, Inwood conducted a tree survey, wetland delineation, listed species survey, coordination with the City of Lakeland staff, and coordination with the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD).  The project was constructed by Ranger Construction, located in Winter Garden, Florida.  The 1.2 million dollar project was partially funded with Federal Highway Administration stimulus funds.
