Inwood Gets Involved in the Community

4/1/2008

In an effort to support the Central Florida community, Inwood Consulting Engineers, Inc. participated in two important charity events this spring.

On Saturday, March 29, 2008, Inwood employees and their families and friends joined over 400 walkers at Cranes Roost Park in Altamonte Springs to participate in Lighthouse Central Florida’s (LCF) Sight and Sole Walk.  LCF is the only organization in Central Florida that provides comprehensive vision rehabilitation services to children and adults with vision impairment.  At the event, Inwood was recognized with a trophy for being a Brightest Star fundraiser.  In the past five years, Inwood has raised over $11,000 for the organization.

In addition to supporting Central Floridians with visual impairments, a team of Inwood employees recently cycled for Multiple Sclerosis (MS).  The team participated in the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s (NMSS) 2008 Bright House Networks MS Bike Tour.  The riders covered 100 to 180 miles during the two-day event, riding from Cypress Gardens to SeaWorld on Saturday, April 26th and then turning around and riding back on Sunday, April 27th.  The funds raised at the MS Bike Tour will allow the NMSS to support MS research, offer services for people with MS, provide professional education programs and further MS advocacy efforts.  This is the firm’s second year to participate in the event.  In the past two years, Inwood has raised over $18,000 for the cause.

“I registered for the ride because I wanted to do something for the people who have been diagnosed with MS.  As I crossed the finish line on Sunday, it felt amazing to support our community through this worthy cause,” explained Grant Panaccione, an employee at Inwood.

Along with supporting LCF and NMSS, Inwood’s employees are involved with numerous charitable organizations and events throughout the year.  In the fall, the firm forms a team to walk in the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Moreover, throughout the year, employees collect pop tabs to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House in Orlando.

“Community involvement is a core value of Inwood’s company culture.  We encourage employees to get involved and give back to the local community.  We will continue to help organizations in Central Florida raise awareness, support the community and bring hope for a brighter future and improved quality of life for everyone,” said Alex Hull, President of Inwood.
