As part of the firm's commitment to supporting the community, Inwood Consulting Engineers, Inc. formed a team to participate in the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's (NMSS) 2007 Bright House Networks MS Bike Tour. The team, comprised of Inwood employees, family, friends and corporate partners, raised over $15,000 for Multiple Sclerosis (MS). In addition, Team Inwood, made up of 46 riders, was recognized as the fourth largest team out of over 100 teams at the event. The participants covered 100 to 180 miles during the two day event, riding from Cypress Gardens to SeaWorld on Saturday, April 21st and then turning around and riding back on Sunday, April 22nd.

David Coleman, Vice President of Inwood, and his eleven year old son, Jonathan, participated in the MS Bike Tour together.  Jonathan’s teacher at Geneva Elementary, Ivy Myers, has MS and he doesn’t hesitate to admit that he rode his bicycle in honor of the inspiration she brings to his classroom.  Jonathan states, “My teacher’s strength and courage made me want to do something to help her and others like her who have MS.”

The funds raised at the MS Bike Tour will allow the NMSS to support MS research, offer services for people with MS, provide professional education programs and further MS advocacy efforts.  According to Michael Cooper, bike tour director, it is estimated that in Central Florida alone, 10,000 individuals are coping with the effects of the disease.

“This was my first time participating in a ride like the MS Bike Tour.  It felt amazing to cross the finish line on Sunday because not only did I achieve a personal goal, but I also supported the community through raising money and awareness of a worthy cause,” explained Janet Middleton, an employee at Inwood.
